We are a leader in the food-tech revolution that seeks to replace the meat industry’s outdated and resource-intensive production processes with advanced technologies and sustainable ingredients. Founded in 2018, Redefine Meat develops technology and processes that replicate the texture, flavour, and experience of eating traditional meat, but without using animal ingredients. We call this “new-meat.”
Our products deliver an uncompromising and extraordinary culinary experience with taste, texture, and aroma that closely replicates of traditional meat. Because they are engineered to functionally and culinarily replace traditional animal meat, we call them “new-meat” because they are designed to redefine the category without using animal-based ingredients or by-products.
Yes. Livestock farming is one of the leading contributors to environmental degradation, greenhouse gas emissions, and deforestation. Our processes bypass the resource-heavy cycle of raising animals, utilizing significantly less land, water, and energy while producing drastically lower carbon emissions. In order to prove it, we performed a third-party analysis called Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), which showed >90% reduction in our products’ environmental footprint compared with animal-based meat.
First and foremost, because we want to make a difference. Our vision is to create a world where anyone can enjoy a great meat-eating experience without compromise. We founded the company out of a passion for meat and a devotion to our planet. Raising livestock is an inefficient and environmentally unsustainable way to feed the world’s growing population. We recognize that many people love eating meat and continue to do so despite knowing the environmental consequences. After all, meat is tasty, readily available, and deeply embedded in tradition and human culture. This is why we need new-meat that can provide the delicious experience of traditional meat, while being good for the environment and kind to animals.
Our proprietary technology is a combination of three main pillars: new-meat Science, Material Science, and “Meat Matrix Manufacturing.” Together, they create new-meat with the precise texture, aroma, and taste of traditional meat. Our Meat Matrix Manufacturing includes a range of advanced technologies, such as additive manufacturing, chosen and applied to each cut and product according to its textural or nutritional properties and requirements.
New-meat is offered at thousands of locations across Europe, USA and the Middle East, spanning some of the world’s best restaurants, steakhouse chains, premium butcher shops, and leading online or physical retailers like Ocado (UK), ASDA (UK), Coop (Switzerland), Jumbo, Albert Heijn, and Crisp (Netherlands). That is precisely what we set out to achieve. Redefine Meat™ products are engineered to replicate the fibrous texture, juicy mouthfeel, aroma, and flavour of traditional meat cuts. Unlike many plant-based products that approximate the taste of minced or processed meat, our technology enables us to produce whole-muscle-style cuts with genuine bite and marbling. We encourage you to try it and judge for yourself.
Redefine Meat™ products are made from sustainable, nutritious, and readily available ingredients including plant-based proteins, plant-based fats and other functional ingredients.
Yes. In fact, most of the things we eat go through processing, including many “simple” or “healthy” foods such as yoghurt, oil, and bread. The negative perception behind the term “processed” stems mainly from foods high in fat and sugar that are designed to satisfy immediate cravings at the expense of health and nutritional values. Our products are carefully processed to structure plant proteins and vegetable fats into a complex meat-like matrix while maintaining strict, high-quality nutritional standards.
What type of protein do your products contain, and can you get enough protein on a plant-based diet?
Yes, it is entirely possible to get enough protein on a plant-based diet. Our products contain a high-quality blend of vegetable proteins taken from various sources, primarily soy and pea protein.
Yes. All Redefine Meat™ products are 100% vegan and animal-free. We believe that everyone can and should enjoy our new-meat whether they are omnivores, flexitarians, vegetarians, or vegans.
Some of our products contain gluten while others do not. Please always refer to the specific packaging of each product or check our official website for the most up-to-date product information for your market.
Yes, most Redefine Meat™ products are certified Kosher, except for our pork-style products — Redefine Pulled Pork and Redefine Bratwurst. Please note that the certifying Kosher authority may vary depending on the production facility and market region.
Our standard portfolio focuses on utilizing scalable, high-quality plant proteins to replace conventional livestock; they are not certified organic (BIO) unless explicitly specified on localized retail packaging.
Defrosting times and the recommended period for use after defrosting vary by product. Always defrost under refrigeration (never at room temperature) and follow the instructions on the product packaging or the relevant product page on our website. As with traditional meat, we do not recommend refreezing products once they have been defrosted.
Yes! As long as the product is kept covered in the refrigerator, cooked new-meat can be safely reheated after its initial preparation.
We are committed to reducing our environmental footprint across our entire operation, including packaging. Recyclability varies by market and packaging format. Please refer to the recycling symbols on your product’s packaging and follow local recycling guidelines. We are continuously working to improve the sustainability of our packaging materials.
Our diverse portfolio is designed to meet the demands of both channels: home cooking (retail products) and professional kitchens and chefs (foodservice products). We keep our recipes as simple as possible and are fully transparent about every ingredient we use. Our products are coloured using plant-derived ingredients such as beetroot, and we use flavourings to deliver the authentic taste and aroma of meat. To keep our products safe and fresh throughout their shelf life, we rely primarily on advanced preservation and protective packaging, supported by a small number of food-safe ingredients where needed. Every ingredient and additive we use is approved for food use in each market where we sell and is always declared in full in the ingredient list on the packaging and on our website. If you have a question about a specific ingredient, our team is happy to help.
Just as every cut of traditional meat varies in its nutritional composition, so do our products. Our premium cuts are a good source of plant protein and are designed to deliver the taste and texture of meat while containing no dietary cholesterol or animal-based saturated fats. As with any food product, we recommend checking the label of each specific product and consulting a nutrition professional for individual dietary needs
Our products are a blend of vegetable proteins taken from various sources, including soy, a good source of high-quality protein. Current scientific evidence shows that soy can be part of a healthy, balanced diet. In fact, it may be beneficial when accompanied by an overall reduction in the consumption of red meat and processed meat products. Learn more at https://www.hsph.harvard.edu/nutritionsource/soy
