PREPARATION

Preparing the BBQ Sauce:

  1. Dice the onion into small cubes.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a small pot, add the onion and sauté for 3-4 minutes until translucent.
  3. Add the tomato paste and sauté for another minute.
  4. Add all the remaining sauce ingredients and the water.
  5. Mix well. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer over low heat (uncovered) for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent burning.
  6. If the sauce seems too thick, add a little more water as needed.
  7. Remove from heat and let cool.

Preparing the Crispy Onion Rings:

  1. Cut the onion into 1 cm thick rings.
  2. In a bowl, mix the flour, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Add the cold beer and mix well until you have a smooth batter.
  4. Dip the onion rings in the beer batter.
  5. Heat oil in a deep pot or deep pan to 180°C (350°F).
  6. Fry the onion rings until golden and crispy, about 2-3 minutes.
  7. Remove and place on paper towels to absorb excess oil.

Preparing the Burger:

  1. Heat a pan or grill to medium-high heat.
  2. Season the burger patties with salt and pepper on both sides.
  3. Grill the patties for about 5 minutes on each side.
  4. Toast the halved burger buns in the pan or on the grill for about a minute.

Assembling the Burger:

  1. Spread BBQ sauce on the bottom half of the bun.
  2. Place lettuce leaves and a tomato slice.
  3. Place the burger patty and top with several crispy onion rings.
  4. Spread more BBQ sauce on the top half of the bun and place it on top.

To Serve:

Serve immediately while the burger is still hot and the onion rings are crispy. Can be served with fries or a green salad on the side.

Enjoy!
