3D-printing, also known as additive manufacturing, refers to a technological process that arranges successive layers of material on a surface to create a physical object from a digital blueprint. 3D-printing is successfully used, worldwide, in a wide range of applications, including, but not limited to, creating artificial limbs, airplane and auto parts, and customized footwear.

In 3D-printing, each printed layer is a cross-section of the item and can be made from one or more materials. Redefine Meat developed a patented, industrial 3D printer that creates cuts of meat – beef, pork, and lamb – by printing three, plant-based, material ingredients: layering “muscle,” “fat” and “blood.” REDEFINE MEAT™ products look, taste, and feel like traditional meat, but don’t use any animal products.

Meat Matrix Additive Manufacturing (MMAM) technology enables us at the voxel-level, to recreate animal muscle fibers that include plant-based formulations for “Blood”, “Fat” and “Muscle”, layer by layer.  With this level of control we can produce meat-like textures that were previously unattainable and customize them per the desired cut.

New-Meat™ products were created to dramatically reduce the environmental impact that traditional meat has on land use, water use, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and more. Raising cattle is an inefficient way to produce meat; every kilogram of meat raised for human consumption, uses 25 kilograms of feed and 20,000   liters of water.

Soy is a great nutritious ingredient made up of an, almost complete, acidic profile. 5% of non-GMO Soy production is used for food. The soy we use is not grown on deforested land in rainforests. The problem of global deforestation arises from the meat industry’s reliance on soy as a primary source of feed for livestock. Our solution is designed to solve this by changing the world’s longstanding meat-eating habits, to reduce dependency on soy agronomy while working towards eliminating deforestation, ecosystem destruction and the loss of biodiversity. We also use pea and chickpea proteins which don’t have the accompanying issues that may be attached to soy cultivation.

However, as part of our long-term strategy, we’re actively investing time and resources into new ingredient optimization. This includes working with innovative ingredient companies to introduce new alternative proteins to drive the industry forward—beyond soy proteins.

Our meat has zero cholesterol, and is low in fat and salt. The term “processed” is often thought of as pejorative, but all processed food is not necessarily bad for you. Think, artisanal sour dough or wine.  We aim to create tasty products. We want to make our products without a negative impact on health. Achieving this goal requires processing, and we do this in a completely transparent way.

3D-printing is a technology, that in terms of processes has disrupted and revolutionized manufacturing. It is precise, flexible, and can eliminate supply chain inefficiencies. Up until this point, alternative meat has focused on the attempt to replicate minced beef or similar products with uniform consistency. 3D printing uniquely enables the production of exact formations that can duplicate the muscle and fat structures found in cuts of meat that are fundamental to the pleasurable sensations experienced when eating meat, particularly, whole cuts.

3D printing also offers flexibility, facilitating the printing of different shapes, sizes, or combinations of “fat” and “muscle” without having to retool or reset the machines.

Our products are a blend of vegetable proteins taken from, soy and peas. Soy is a nutrient-rich, good source of protein, and is considered an essential part of a balanced diet. Consumption of products that contain soy, a whole protein with 9 essential amino acids, is considered safe. Recent studies have shown that the consumption of soy as part of a balanced, plant-based diet, has no discernable negative impact on health and may be beneficial when accompanied by an overall reduction in the consumption of red and processed meat products.

REDEFINE MEAT™ products are made from plant-based ingredients and include ingredients that are recommended as part of a healthy balanced diet, including proteins, carbohydrates, and vegetable-based fats.

Studies show that a balanced, high-fiber vegetarian or vegan diet lowers cholesterol and reduces chronic illness. In addition, the Israeli Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics recommends minimizing the consumption of saturated fats particularly those found in red meat, processed meat and offal.

Our primary focus is to make delicious products that mimic the experience of eating traditional meat. We offer a variety of products, and just like in the corresponding animal products, they have various levels of protein, based on the type of cut.

That said, we continually strive to improve our products and this may include raising the percentage of protein in the future.

Yes, they’re certified Kosher by both the Rabbinates of Migdal HaEmek and Rehovot. Only the Redefine Burger is certified Glatt Kosher by Badatz Beit Yosef.

All REDEFINE MEAT™ products are non-GMO as they don’t contain ingredients from genetically modified organisms.

Although our product line is manufactured in a vegetarian facility on a vegan production line, we like to err on the side of caution.

Therefore, we include any allergen, like eggs and dairy products that might be present in other sections of the manufacturing facility.

None of our product formulations contain eggs or dairy products! We worry, so you don’t have to.

We don’t mess around when it comes to consumer safety, and we encourage consumers with food allergies or sensitivities to review our product ingredient lists which are available on our website and on our packaging, before preparing and eating any REDEFINE MEAT™ product.

REDEFINE MEAT™ products are made from sustainable, nutritious and readily   available ingredients including plant-based proteins, fats, natural colors and flavors. When combined, using our patented technology, they create a tasty New-Meat™ that offers a similar culinary experience with its taste, texture, and aroma to that of the animal meat.

The protein comes primarily from soy and peas. Using proteins from various sources allows us to offer products with a unique texture and nutritional profile.

At the moment, our products contain gluten. We are continuously improving our products across a variety of parameters. Reducing or eliminating gluten from our products is one of our goals in the future.

We made it our mission to develop a New-Meat™ product. As a result, in order to offer the right mouth-feel and flavor profile, we found it necessary to add some saturated vegetable fats.

Our products are currently available in Israel, the UK, The Netherlands and Germany. We are currently manufacturing our New-Meat™ products in Israel, but we’ll soon start producing in our large-scale European manufacturing site in Best, The Netherlands. It will be the main supplier to our European customers. We’ll have the manufacturing capacity to produce significant quantities of New-Meat™ to meet projected food service needs across Europe. We will then ramp up further to serve the retail and direct to consumer markets. We plan to continue our expansion by adding additional countries and regions soon.
