About the role:
We’re looking for a hands-on and experienced GL Accountant to lead day-to-day financial operations from our Netherlands office. In this independent and versatile role, you’ll manage the full scope of accounting activities – including bookkeeping, AP/AR, VAT, and reporting – not only for our Dutch entity, but also for additional European operations.
You'll work in a dynamic multinational, multi-currency environment, with a strong focus on intra-EU transactions, compliance, and financial accuracy.
Your mission
- Manage accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) across multiple European entities
- Perform bank, credit card, and petty cash reconciliations
- Record journal entries, accruals, and general ledger adjustments
- Prepare and submit VAT filings for the Netherlands and additional EU jurisdictions
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes
- Generate internal financial reports and support external audits
- Maintain and improve bookkeeping systems; support ERP (SAP) upgrades
What you'll bring
- Minimum 5 years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles
- MBO/HBO degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Experience in a multinational and multi-currency environment
- Familiarity with intra-EU transactions and reporting
- Strong knowledge of Dutch and EU VAT regulations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with SAP - a strong advantage
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and time management
- Fluent in English (Dutch – advantage)
- Knowledge of other European accounting standards is a plus
